Women of God

This is a Thursday afternoon Ladies’ Life Group, facilitated by Pastor Judy Pribis, which meets at the church every Thursday at 1:00 pm. Along with weekly Bible studies, this group also seeks to actively minister to those within the church family and beyond through a card and prayer ministry called “Seeds of Encouragement.” From time to time we also do sunshine baskets or make cards to help brighten the lives of those going through difficult times.

God's Answers to Life's Difficult Questions

Our Thursday Women of God Life Group will be starting a new study in a few weeks (date to be announced). We will be studying Rick Warren’s book God’'s Answers to Life'’s Difficult Questions. In this book, Warren seeks to provide Biblical answers to the following questions: How can I cope with stress? How can I rebound from failure? How can I defeat depression? How can I live above average? How can I have peace of mind? How can I handle discouragement? How can I overcome my problems? How can I be confident in crisis? How can I ever change? How did I get myself into this mess? How can I overcome loneliness? Why is this happening to me? Warren uses Biblical characters to help us discover God’s answers to life'’s difficult and perplexing problems.

(Note: We moved downstairs to the Fellowship Hall to accommodate the increasing number who have been attending as well as to help those who need ease of access.)

Becoming a Woman of Prayer

Our Thursday Life Group will be starting a new study in a couple of weeks. We will be starting a study of Cynthia Heald's book "Becoming a Woman of Prayer." From the back of the book, we are reminded that prayer "is an opportunity for us to respond to His invitation to intimacy by calling, crying, and singing to Him. Prayer is our response to the One who has called out to us and desires to be in a relationship with us." We are looking forward to growing in this area of our spiritual lives.

Becoming A Woman of Faith

posted Nov 20, 2012, 6:30 AM by Chruch Staff   [ updated Nov 20, 2012, 6:34 AM ]

We are currently studying the book Becoming a Woman of Faith by Cynthia Heald. We have been challenged to be women who accept God’s gift of salvation by putting our complete faith and trust in Jesus Christ. We have also learned that we are saved by faith, not by works nor by anything else we do. However, faith must be lived out in our actions every day. We are presently studying chapter 5, “Walking by Faith.” We are being challenged during these days by a powerful quotation by Matthew Henry: “Faith is for this world, and sight is reserved for the other world; and it is our duty, and will be our interest to walk by faith, till we come to live by sight.” All ladies are welcome to join us for this study.

Becoming a Woman of Faith

We will be starting a new study this week entitled “Becoming a Woman of Faith” written by Cynthia Heald. In this study, we will endeavor to answer the question: "What does it mean to be a woman of faith?"

Does it mean never doubting or questioning God? Does it mean having your act together all the time? Does it mean being like the "prayer warriors" of old or having the right Bible verse for every situation?

In this study, Cynthia Heald seeks to lead us to a biblical understanding of what it means to be a woman of God in 21st century America -- a woman who loves God, trusts Him, and lives for Him in our contemporary world.

"This one thing I do"

We are continuing our study through Cynthia Heald's book "Beoming a Woman of Simplicity."  This week, we are starting chapter 5:  "This One Thing I Do."  The challenge of this chapter can be summed up in a quotation by Andrew Murray:  "Be wholly occupied with Jesus.  Sink the roots of your being in faith and love and obedience deep down into Him.  Come away out of every other place to abide here.  Give up everything for the inconceivable privilege of being a branch on earth of the glorified Son in heaven.  Let Christ be first.  Let Christ be all.  Do not be occupied with the abiding -- be occupied with Christ.  He will hold you.  He will keep you abiding in Him.  He will abide in you."
